Maple Butter in 3 Minutes

Once you know how easy it is to make maple butter, you’ll want to put it on everything! It’s wonderful on toast, rolls, waffles, corn bread, pancakes, and even savory dishes like baked potatoes and pork chops.

I love honey butter so much that I’ve been known to choose restaurants just because it’s on the menu. But, when my friend asked me if I’d ever had maple butter, I had to say no. How was it possible that I’d never had it? Maple is just as good as – if not better than – honey!

I soon learned that there are two different products called maple butter. One is made by cooking down maple syrup until it turns into something with the texture of butter. This, of course, is completely delicious. However, the version I’m sharing here is also amazingly good and SO much easier to make. You don’t need to cook anything on the stove, and it’s ready to eat in three minutes.

The only ingredients you’ll need are maple syrup, butter, and a pinch of salt. Leave off the salt if you use salted butter.

Please use pure maple syrup. It will make a huge difference in the quality and taste of the butter.

I’m a purist and like focusing on the maple flavor alone. If you like other flavors with your maple, you can experiment by adding spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, or cardamom and a touch of vanilla extract.

How It’s Made

Mix room temperature butter, maple syrup, and a pinch of salt with an electric mixer for three minutes or until combined and airy.

Important: Midway through the process, the butter may start to look curdled. Keep mixing and it will eventually come together.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter room temperature
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • pinch salt

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients for three minutes using an electric mixer on high speed. (The butter may curdle during the process, but keep mixing and it will come together.)
