Peanut Butter Cookie Dough
This edible peanut butter cookie dough is safe to eat raw (no eggs!). Use it in any recipes that call for cookie dough or just eat it by the spoonful!
I also love using this cookie dough as you would ice cream – with sprinkles and toppings galore.
Ingredients
This recipe uses all of the same ingredients as peanut butter cookies with two major exceptions:
- There are no eggs. Adding raw eggs to the batter (unless you can get your hands on pasteurized eggs) would make the cookie dough unsafe to eat.
- There is no baking powder or baking soda. Because the dough doesn’t have to rise, you don’t need any leavening agents.
How It’s Made
When making peanut butter cookie dough, you needn’t worry about ingredient order, mixing speeds, temperature, or times. You aren’t going to bake the cookie dough, so you can disregard all that you’ve learned about baking chemistry – just mix and eat!
All you need to do, is mix all of the ingredients together in one big bowl!
The only technique to keep in mind is the preparation of the flour. It’s not just raw eggs that we need to worry about in raw cookie dough, but also raw flour. The flour can contain e. coli.
To protect yourself, you can heat flour in the microwave in 15 second intervals, stirring after each interval, until a thermometer placed into the center of the flour reads 160 F. This method isn’t 100% proven so consume at your own risk.

Made these and they are amazing!I kept them refrigerated and ready to be sneaked out of the fridge any time!
Omg I spy peanutbutter cookie dough brownies in this recipe’s future
I have a low tolerance for sweetness so I halved the sugars, but it’s still a bit too sweet for me. For the most part, I really like the texture and the peanut butter goodness, so I’ll definitely try it again, but with 1/4 sugar next time!
Love it!
Very good recipe!! I recommend using a little bit more milk so it sticks together better and to mix with hands, it is not easy using utensils. Also put butter in microwave for about 15 seconds so it’s easier to mix bc the butter was tougher to mix than the peanut butter. 10/10 I highly recommend great guilt free snack
yummy! we make this with soy butter, since my son is allergic to peanuts. It’s sooo good:) Thanks for posting!
Finally a cookie dough that’s safe to eat without having to worry about “worms!”
Peanut butter is my absolute favourite flavour! Here are a couple of tips that I’ll be using when I make this:
1. You can make this vegan by using coconut spread instead of butter (Earth Balance is really good) and rice, soy or nut milk instead of dairy milk.
2. Use coconut or almond flour instead of wheat flour. This will give the same end result but without the “bad” raw taste.
3. You can use sunflower butter interchangeably with most nut butters. A good friend of mine is allergic to peanuts and most tree nuts and this is an excellent compromise that virtually no one can detect. Trader Joe’s has a great sunflower butter that’s reasonably priced.
do you have to use whole milk, or would say…2% work just as well?
Oh forget it just go for it, how often do you eat cookie dough ?

I decided to make this today, and I’m glad I did. Very tasty. I ate a nice big ball and then used the rest to make home made peanut butter cups in chocolate!
Ooh…I hope there are PB cookie dough cupcakes in the future! I will love you forever.
I actually prefer vanilla ice cream to chocolate but that’s because I am a weird female that doesn’t like to be overloaded with chocolate. But I really love these peanut butter cookie dough balls! Raw cookie dough is the best and peanut butter is heaven.
Woohoo! I am a self-professed dough addict. And an eggless, peanut butter, chocolate-friendly dough?? Joy!
